ACE 2014 STARS COMING TO MADRID: CLASSIC BODYBUILDING

To continue our series of predictions prior to the upcoming Arnold Classic Europe, we will look into Men’s Classic Bodybuilding now. There will be three categories run at this event and we can expect more than 15 athletes in each of them. What’s interesting, some older champions decided to come back after few-year break. Also some former world top juniors will try to compete in the men’s classes now. Arnold in Madrid, staged more than 2 months before the Classic Bodybuilding Worlds is also a good opportunity for less known bodybuilders who want to test their current possibilities. This mixture creates a special condition and often brings unexpected results, being a place for new stars to born.Up to 175 cm category

The current European overall champion Tomas Bendoraitis of Lithuania seems to be the main pretender for the top trophy; however, he will meet 2007 world champion Luigi Di Carlo (Italy) who comes back after many year’s break and wants to prove he still is the “Numero uno”. The next “unknown” is the 2004 World Juniors Championships runner-up Ladislav Korsch (Slovakia), who has not been seen on international stages since 2007 but won the 2011 Slovak Nationals. Then, two well-know Russians. Vitalii Valeev won bronze medal at the 2013 European Championships. He will be among the top players in Madrid this year also. Sergei Taranukho will begin his international career after finishing 2nd at the Cup of Russia this spring. Finally, Martin Rusanov of Bulgaria, 5th place winner at the 2012 World Championships. Very interesting set of stars, so the battle should be very exciting.

Up to 180 cm category

No clear favourite among this year’s participants. Aaron Rodelgo (Spain) took the 4th place last year. Giuseppe Brancaccio (Italy) won the 2011 European Masters Championships and placed just out of the top 6 last year in Madrid. He will meet the next master bodybuilder Ihar Sidarchuk (Ireland) and the 2014 Cup of Russia overall winner Evgeny Gemzin (he won the 175 cm class in Russia, so wait for the official registration in Madrid to see in which category he will be registered). And 2014 IFBB Mozolani Classic 2nd place winner Roman Jandura (Slovakia) – participant of the 2010 World Juniors Championships who has made an impressive progress recently. Plus top Austrian classic bodybuilder Manuel Plachner – 2013 European Championships participant and 2014 International Austria Cup 3rd place winner.

Over 180 cm category

Similar situation like in the previous category: a couple of athletes with equal possibilities. Juri Leinvald (Russia) finished 3rd last year in Madrid. Last year runner-up Harald Schober moved to the extreme bodybuilding. The last year winner, Carlos Blanco (Spain), is not on the temporary list of participants published by the Spanish Federation. The next top Russian is Sergei Khalepo who placed 2nd at the 2014 Cup of Russia, ahead of other 20 competitors. The next serious player will be 2014 European Championships 5th place winner Krzysztof Rodkiewicz (Poland), who won the open category at the recent qualifying contest in his country. And one interesting comeback: 2007 World Championships finalist Marijan Mesec (Croatia), who returns to the stage after so many years.

Sel nädalavahetusel Madridis toimuval Arnold Classic Europe'il võistlevad ka Eesti bikiinifitnessikaunitarid Egle Eller-Nabi ja Ene Tomingas.

Arnold Classic Europe (ACE) toimub Madridis neljandat aastat järjest, lisaks kõikide kulturismi amatööride kategooriatele toimuvad ka kulturismi ja fitnessi profidivisjoni võistlused.

Eestist osalevad ACE 2014-l Egle Eller-Nabi ja Ene Tomingas. Mõlemad naised võistlevad bikiinifitnessi amatööride kategoorias.

21. septembril toimunud hooaja avavõistlusel võitis Egle Eller-Nabi Riga Pearl 2014 bikiinifitnessi kategooria. Ene Tomingas sai samal võistlusel 4. koha.
