OLYMPIA AMATEUR LATIN AMERICA IN MEXICO

The world famous tourist resort on the Mexican Pacific coast, Acapulco, will host the Olympia Amateur Latin America 2014 event (June 12-15), organized by the Mexican Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, led by its President, Mr. Francisco Cabezas.

IFBB Preident, Dr Santonja will be attending the event, joined by IFBB Executive Council members, Mr. Robin Chang of American Media, and other personnel.

An excellent participation of athletes from national IFBB affiliated Federations from South America, North America, Central America and the Caribbean is expected. More information will follow soon, while you can find the official Inspection Report for this event at the following LINK.

On Friday, President Dr Santonja, along with Mr Cabezas will attend official functions in Mexico D.F. with occasion of the birthday celebration of the President of the Pan American Sports Organization, Mr. Mario Vázquez Raña.

AMATEUR OLYMPIA LATIN AMERICA JUST STARTED!

The official athlete registration at the Amateur Olympia Latin America shows a massive attendance at the inaugural edition of this event. Nearly 160 competitors represented 15 countries have been registered. The most crowded categories are the Men’s Bodybuilding up to 90 kg and Men’s Physique over 180 cm. What’s unusual nowadays, there are more bodyfitness competitors than bikini fitness athletes. Mexico entered more competitors than other countries but it is normal for the host country and they have the first time the opportunity to show their wide elite of physique sports athletes at the international competition of so high level. Men’s Bodybuilding, with 59 athletes and many top level international stars will be the leading sport. The list of registered competitors enclosed.

The battle on the stage will start Saturday afternoon, at 15:00 local time (21:00 GMT) at the Acapulco International Convention Center Centro (Internacional de Convenciones Acapulco). Opened in 1973, the Acapulco Convention Center offers several meeting rooms, two large theatres, several terraces, gardens and a Mexican plaza. The idea of the project and having a Convention Center of such magnitude was proposed by a former Mexican President Lic. Miguel Aleman Valdés who had the idea to promote the Acapulco destination and it was born on those times where in Mexico did not had any other Convention Center anywhere. To construct this center the investment of 50 million dollars was needed. Probably, it is the number one Convention Center in Mexico. IFBB is proud to stage our prestigious event in so famous venue!
