The complete competitor lists are out as well; Finnish Heidi Sorsa starting her season here, note also familiar competitor from IFBB amateur scenes Serbian Bojana Vasljevic competing among the pros for the first time. Obviously Heather Dees - runner up from the AC - very strong pre-show favorite here.

Twenty competitors will take the stage at IFBB Governor’s Cup Pro Figure Championships this weekend in Sacramento, California, with two top-five Olympians leading the way.

Heather Dees enters as the odds-on favorite to win her second straight Governor’s Cup title. Three weeks ago, Dees stunned the Figure world when she placed second at the Figure International – one spot ahead of precontest favorite and two-time Figure Olympia winner Erin Stern. Dees, whose first and only career win came in Sacramento a year ago, placed fourth at the 2012 Figure Olympia.

Second-year pro Mallory Haldeman continued to impress at the Figure International, notching her second straight top-five finish at a major competition. Haldeman, who turned pro at the 2012 Junior Nationals, placed fifth at the Figure International three weeks ago and fifth at the Figure Olympia last September. In five professional contests, Haldeman has yet to place lower than fifth.

Heather Dees won her second straight Governor’s Cup Pro Figure title on Saturday in Sacramento, successfully defending her title from a year ago.The win was the second of Dees’ career and first of 2013. Three weeks ago, Dees placed second to Candice Keene at the Figure International, beating out two-time Figure Olympia winner Erin Stern – who finished third – for the runner-up spot. Dees also placed fifth at the 2012 Figure Olympia.

The contest was shaping up to be a showdown between two top five Olympians from 2012 in Dees and newcomer Mallory Haldeman. But while Dees did her part, Haldeman did not. Looking noticeably softer than she did when placing fifth at the Figure International, Haldeman fell to 3rd behind Wendy Fortino, The second-place finish was the highest of Fortino’s pro career. Fortino has placed 7th, 11th and now 2nd in her three professional contests since turning pro at the 2011 NPC USA Championships.

Victoria Adelus and Monica Labriola placed 4th and 5th, respectively to earn points in the Olympia Qualification Series standings.

Based on the photos, I would have easily placed Fortino ahead Dees..
