Press realease of FIRST EVER AC Brazil;

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Arnold Sports Festival is coming to South America

The first-ever Arnold Classic Brazil will be held April 25th - 29th in Rio de Janeiro and will feature IFBB Pro League men’s bodybuilding, a complete lineup of amateur bodybuilding events and a fitness expo.

Arnold Classic Brazil is a joint venture between Gov. Schwarzenegger, Arnold Sports Festival co-promoter Jim Lorimer, International Federation of Body Building president Rafael Santonja, and Savaget Promotions of Sáo Paulo, Brazil

“We are very excited to take the Arnold Sports Festival model to South America in 2013,” Lorimer said. “The creation of the first Arnold Classic Europe in Madrid in October 2012 proved that there was great demand worldwide for the Arnold Sports Festival concept, and we look forward to continuing our globalization efforts in Rio de Janeiro next year.”

The Arnold Classic Europe will feature professional men’s bodybuilding sanctioned by the IFBB Pro League and amateur contests sanctioned by the International Federation of Body Building. Additional sports and contests will be announced in the near future.

The Arnold Classic Brazil will partner with the Rio Sports Show, held annually in Rio de Janeiro, to create a health and fitness expo that will attract more than 35,000 attendees. The expo will feature the latest in equipment, sports nutrition, apparel and accessories. An accompanying “Fight Pavilion” will feature the latest in mixed martial arts and other combat sports.

Organizers hope the Arnold Classic Brazil will build on the success of the Arnold Sports Festival, which began as the Arnold Classic professional men’s bodybuilding competition in 1989 and has grown to include more than 18,000 athletes competing in more than 45 sports and events each year. The Arnold Classic Europe debuted in October 2011 and will return in October 2012.

Hide Yamagishi has been doing a lot of globetrotting lately and lucky for us Dave Bourlet caught him in the 24-hour window between flights as he was doing a final leg workout before heading out to the Arnold Classic Brazil competition this weekend in Rio de Janeiro.

Dave asks Hide, "what was up with the gut," at the Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio and "The Dragon" gives us an explanation for his bloated appearance on stage.Yamagishi is still suffering from a broken wrist and tells us that he plans to have surgery after the contest in Brasil.

Oh, that was a quick show filled with drama as after all McMillan was not allowed to compete.

Well anyway, a lil recap by NPCnewsonline.com and the results;

Brandon Curry and Ryall Graber-Vasani emerged as the inaugural winners of the first-ever Arnold Classic Brasil in Rio De Janeiro on Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd.

Curry earned his IFBB Pro card by winning the Heavyweight and Overall titles at the 2008 NPC USAs which, until tonight, was the last time Curry stood atop the winner’s podium. He was billed as a potential future star when he entered the IFBB at just 25 years old, but failed to live up to those lofty expectations early in his career.

That all changed tonight, as Curry handily defeated two decorated veterans in Toney Freeman and Johnnie Jackson en route to the first professional win of his career with conditioning that was on par – if not slightly better – than the form he displayed when placing 8th at the 2011 Olympia.

It helped that both Freeman and Jackson both missed the mark from previous outings this year. Both missed the mark here, but both were good enough to stand in a tie for second after the evening’s prejudging. Only an hour separated the prejudging and finals – not much time for any major adjustments – but Freeman sharpened up just enough in the eyes of the judges to edge past Johnson for his third runner-up finish in his last four contests.

Ed Nunn (4th) and Fred Smalls (5th) rounded out the top five.
