IFBB STARS COMING TO THE 2012 ARNOLD AMATEUR - part 2

by Andrew Michalak

I have a pleasure to present the next six top champions nominated to the 2012 Arnold Amateur Championships. You will see great physiques, surprising changes and returns.

To remind you: official nomination deadline is January 31st, 2012. Up to this date National Federations may send to the IFBB Headquarters (personally, to Mrs. Wanda Tierney) the names of competitors planning to participate in the 2012 Arnold Amateur. The next six within few days. Stay tuned!

MELINDA SZABO – HUNGARY

Women’s Fitness up to 163 cm

Emerged at the 2011 European Juniors Championships in Alcala, won it and… the next three more prestigious championships: Arnold Europe, Women’s Worlds in Novi Sad and World Juniors in Santa Susanna. Displaying perfect combination of flexibility, dynamic power and body quality, she is almost unbeatable. Will anybody be able to stop her in Columbus?

SANDRA TACZA – PERU

Women’s Bodyfitness up to 159 cm

Had a very successful 2011 season, re-gaining the South American title (first won in 2006) and winning the overall category for the first time, performing against many top continental stars. In 2008 top ten in the world. Charming lady, gracefully moving on the stage. If in shape, may advance to the medal zone.

MICHAEL ADONIS – SOUTH AFRICA

Men’s Bodybuilding up to 85 kg

Muscle Evolution” magazine called him “The future of South African bodybuilding” and I agree with them. Began to compete in 2006, placed 11th at his first Men’s Worlds in 2008 and advanced to the 4th position in 2011 in Mumbai, leaving behind 17 top world bodybuilders. Wonderful body lines, with tiny waist and full, hard thighs. Now will come heavier, moving up to the 85 kg category.

AHMED EL SADANY – EGYPT

Men’s Bodybuilding up to 85 kg

The next “Pearl” in the Egyptian Team. From Cairo, 27 years old, graduated accountant. Always victorious, having won: Arab, Mediterranean, African and two times world championships. Rare perfection of body structure, muscle size and shape, handsome appearance. Will he get the next top title to his collection? I would stake on him!

DMITRI YASHANKIN - RUSSIA

Men’s Classic Bodybuilding up to180 cm

Three-time world men’s fitness champion at Arnold Amateur? But there is no men’s fitness at this contest!. And this is a great surprise! Dmitri decided to try in the other division: men’s classic bodybuilding. And he belongs to this narrow group of top international champions who don’t like to lose. Will he continue the series of the top world contests victories? There are no his images from the classic bodybuilding.

LUIS SARMENTO – BRAZIL

Men’s Bodybuilding up to 80 kg

Began to compete in the 20th century but his greatest success came later, when he participated in masters division as well as in men’s division. Brazilian champion, South American champion, world masters champion, Men’s Worlds runner-up. Always in top shape and ready to battle for victory. This time it will be an extremely difficult task, but who knows…

About 5 months after suffering a tear in his right quad that sidelined him for the 2011 Olympia, bodybuilder Branch Warren blasts out a leg workout just 6 weeks prior to defending the Arnold Classic crown. In the video, Brian Dobson gives commentary on how the "Texas Rattlesnake's" surgery rehab went. Video by Nick Del Toro

JANAINA BARBOSA DE MATOS – BRAZIL

Women’s Fitness up to 163 cm

After victories at the Brazilian Nationals and 2010 South American Championships, she debuted at the 2010 Women’s Worlds, finishing in the 8th place, but just a year later she was running a close battle against Melinda Szabo for the world title, finishing in the 2nd position this time. But this progress is the best evidence of her big possibilities. In Columbus there will be a return ”match”: Barbosa vs. Szabo.

GIADA SIMARI – ITALY

Women’s Bodyfitness up to 159 cm

Following 3 years out of medal zone, she has finally found her way to prepare a perfect body condition. Adding her tremendous body frame and overall proportions, she was unbeatable at the Amateur Olympia (won over Raquel Hernandez!) and Arnold Europe, finishing 2nd at the 2011 Arnold America and Women’s Worlds, where she came a bit too dry and defined. Being in shape similar like at Arnold Europe, her dreams may come true…

MAHMOUD EL FADALY – EGYPT

Men’s Bodybuilding up to 80 kg

One of the best Egyptian and world bodybuilder but… with a lack of luck. In the recent few years three times 2nd at the World Championships! I wasn’t surprised that in 2011 in Mumbai he couldn’t stop his tears. Was so closed to the final victory, winning the first round and lost it once again in the finals. Will 2012 be the first year of his victories? He has everything needed to be a winner!

ROMAN CORTUNA JR. – PHILIPPINES

Men’s Bodybuilding up to 80 kg

Most of you haven’t heard about him? You will be greatly surprised, what a fantastic bodybuilder comes to the IFBB! We didn’t know him because he had been tied with the other organization through years, winning several world titles. Now he will debut at the big IFBB international contest. It will be a top exciting event. Attached picture “tells” more.

SERGEY BAZAROV - RUSSIA

Men’s Bodybuilding over 100 kg

Russian bodybuilder of the younger generation, 2010 Russian Nationals overall winner and 2010 Men’s Worlds finalist. Beautiful bodylines and balanced muscle development. His problem is not enough big body structure (frame) to compete against the super heavyweight giants. But at the latest Arnold Europe he advanced to the promising 4th position. If finds his way to impress the judges (top hardness and definition?) might be more challenging to the top champions.
