    The annual European Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation Executive Council Meeting was held in Venice, Italy, this time, on January 20-22. Held in the luxury, historical Daniele Hotel and run by the EBFF and IFBB President, Dr. Rafael Santonja, the Meeting was very prooductive and interesting, bringing many important decisions. The most interesting ones are tied with changes in the official categories open at the upcoming European Championships:

     

    — Women’s Bikini-Fitness categories have been increased to eight:

    1. Women Bikini-Fitness Up to & incl. 158 cm
    2. Women Bikini-Fitness Up to & incl. 160 cm
    3. Women Bikini-Fitness Up to & incl. 162 cm
    4. Women Bikini-Fitness Up to & incl. 164 cm
    5. Women Bikini-Fitness Up to & incl. 166 cm
    6. Women Bikini-Fitness Up to & incl. 169 cm
    7. Women Bikini-Fitness Up to & incl. 172 cm
    8. Women Bikini-Fitness Over 172 cm

     

    — Men’s Physique categories have been increased to six:

    1. Men’s Physique Up to & incl. 170 cm
    2. Men’s Physique Up to & incl. 173 cm

    1. Fitness Girls up to 7 years old Open category
    2. Fitness Girls 8 years old Open category
    3. Fitness Girls 9 years old Open category
    4. Fitness Girls 10 years old Open category
    5. Fitness Girls 11 years old Open category
    6. Fitness Girls 12 years old Open category

    For all categories: each category can only be run if there are not less than 6 athletes. If less than 6 athletes, categories will be combined, wherever possible.

     

    Also a detailed rules for the Elite Ranking Awards have been established. More details in the EBFF Executive Council Meeting Report, to be published next week.

    Main decisions taken by the EBFF Executive Council meeting in Venice(to be implemented at European/World Championships)

     

    -Bodybuilding classes go down to 7: up to 65 kg, 70kg, 75kg, up to 80kg to 90 kg, 100 kg ,100+ kg

    -Men's Physique classes are :up to 170 cm, up  to 173 cm, up  to 176 cm, up  to 179 cm, up to 182 cm and over 182cm

    -Bikini Fitness:up to 158 cm, up to 160 cm, up  to 162 cm, up to 164 cm, up to 166 cm, up to 169 cm, up to  172 cm and over 172cm

    -Wellness fitness will be introduced at the European Championships with 2 classes which are  -163 cm and over 163 cm.

    2017 Ben Weider Legacy Cup will provide 5 IFBB PRO LEAGUE CARDS for the overall winners in bodybuilding, bikini fitness, body fitness, men’s physique and classic bodybuilding competitions.

    We will have added masters categories (35 years) in body fitness and bikini fitness. No pro cards will be provided in masters categories.

  6. Some BIG news concerning 2017 version of Nordic Fitness Expo and Ben Weider Legacy Cup:

    Next year it is getting BIGGER and BETTER. Instead of 4 divisions (bikini, body fitness, bodybuilding and men's physique) and 4 pro cards, there will be 5 divisions and 5 pro cards as we will also have classic bodybuilding included. The over all winner of CBB classes will receive a pro card and get an eligibility to compete in classic physique division at pro level.
