Masters' Olympia & Miami Pro 2012

Recommended Posts

Officially the very last pro show of the year 2012, Masters' Olympia will be held in Miami at 7th-8th December. Besides the Masters' O, also the event will include Miami Pro in women's pro fitness, figure and bikini.

Originally the show was planned to be held in Prague, Czech Republic. Well instead the show was moved to The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater, the venue where promoter Jarka Lorie Schneider held last year’s Pro World Masters and Bikini Championships. “It’s a more convenient location for the most of our exhibitors,” Masters Olympia promoter Jarka Lorie Schneider said. “We expect the weather to be more accommodating and anticipate less potential travel problems in Miami during that time of year.”

Three weeks after placing fourth at the Mr. Olympia, former Mr. O Dexter Jackson guest posed at the NPC Music City Muscle and showed he's not far off contest condition. With six weeks to go until the Master's Olympia, "The Blade" looks like the man to beat in Miami. Check out the video below to see The Blade posing, interacting with the crowd, and reminding everyone that he's still one of the best!

Troy Alves gives a lil update;

MD's written preview;

With the last bodybuilding contest of the season officially in the history books, one would think that the bodybuilding year has come to an end. But there is one more king left to be crowned this year, and that will happen in December at the 2012 Masters Olympia in Miami.

While some would consider Dexter Jackson the returning champ, and thus the man to beat after winning Masters Worlds last year, this is actually the first time we've seen a Masters Mr. Olympia since 2004 when Claude Groulx won the title. The show was held from 1994 through 2004 with Ed Corney, Robby Robinson, and Vince Taylor's multiple wins accounting for more than half the titles. In case you're wondering, Vince Taylor holds the record with a whopping five titles.

Claude Groulx will not be on hand to defend his Masters Olympia Title, but Dexter Jackson will be there to defend his masters win last year in Miami. There is no doubt that he would like to be the second man to hold a both a Mr. Olympia and a Masters Olympia Title. Chris Dickerson already beat him to the punch! But should Dexter win, well, ties were meant to be broken. The stage would already be set for the 2013 Masters Olympia.

But there is a little matter of a few good men who would like to knock Dexter out of their way and claim the title. Dennis James is probably the most hungry of those men. The last time these two men had a one and two mix was 2002's British Grand Prix where Dennis took second to Dexter's first. Add to the that Dexter publicly stated in Vegas at the Olympia Press Conference that Dennis had never beaten him, and it's easy to see that no one would covet a win more than Dennis James.

And then there's Toney Freeman. Toney was just earning his IFBB Pro Card in 2002 when Dennis James and Dexter Jackson faced off at the British Grand Prix. Like both men, he's had his time on the Olympia stage. This year, he's also had a slew of top five placings with his last win being the 2011 Europa SuperShow. Dexter did not compete there, and Dennis had retired after the previous year's Olympia, leaving to question how will these men compare if each shows up at his all time best? Will Toney's giant X-Frame prove too much? Will Dexter's aesthetics please the judges? Or will Dennis James' freaky mass rule all?

There's only one way to find out - at the 2012 Masters Olympia! Be there as Dexter, Dennis, and Toney face each other and the likes of Ronny Rockel, Troy Alves, Ed Nunn, Darrem Charles and many more. You won't want to miss this show!

Not to be overlooked, IFBB Pro Women will be competing at the IFBB Pro World Championships in Fitness, Figure, and Bikini. Expect to see notables in the industry, such as India Paulino in Bikini, to show up to vie for the title. Across the divisions, this is the last chance for the women to grab and Olympia qualificiation this year!!

I think people like Mark Antonek, who are preparing to compete with a life-affecting disease like Parkinson's, deserve huge respect.

NPCnewsonline previews the upcoming show - http://npcnewsonline.com/2012-ifbb-masters-olympia-pro-world-figurebikinifitness-preview/43387/ ;

Masters Olympia; The Masters Olympia returns after a nine-year hiatus, with the best over-40 bodybuilders in the world competing for $200,000 in prize money – including a $100,000 first-place check for whoever comes out on top. The last time the contest was held was in 2003, when Claude Groulx became the sixth winner in contest history, beating out Johnny Stewart (2nd), Darryl Stafford (3rd), David Hawk (4th) and George Tuman (5th). No offense to history, but that lineup pales in comparison to what will take the stage in Miami.

For starters, this marks only the second time in Master’s Olympia history that a Mr. Olympia winner will be in the lineup. Chris Dickerson was the first, competing in the inaugural Masters Olympia in 1994. But that contest came 12 years after Dickerson’s 1982 Olympia win, meaning Dickerson was well past his prime. This year, a rejuvenated Dexter Jackson headlines what promises to be the most competitive Masters Olympia lineup in history.

Five years removed from his win in 2008, the 43-year-old Jackson was seemingly on the downside of his career with several subpar outings over the past two seasons. But a fourth-place finish at this year’s Olympia – where Jackson arguably looked the best he has since 2009 – put The Blade back among the elite. Now, he’ll look to solidify that status with a win in Miami.

But Jackson is just one of many in what amounts to the most decorated Masters Olympia lineup of all time, one which includes a record nine competitors with IFBB open division wins. Other than Jackson, Toney Freeman, Johnnie Jackson, Dennis James, Troy Alves, Bill Wilmore, Ed Nunn, Darrem Charles and Michael Kefalianos all have at least one professional win on their resumes. The only lineup that comes close is the 1994 Masters Olympia, which boasted a lineup of seven previous winners – Robby Robinson (1st), Lou Ferrigno (2nd), Boyer Coe (3rd), Chris Dickerson (4th), Danny Padilla (7th), Bill Grant (8th) and Ed Corney (9th).

PRO WORLD FIGURE, BIKINI & FITNESS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Candice Lewis and India Paulino, two of the best in the world in their respective divisions, lead the way on the women’s side this weekend.

In figure, Lewis will look to complete a historic run in the division. A win here will give Lewis five victories this season – tying her with Nicole Wilkins and Erin Stern as the most ever in a single season. Lewis, who turned pro at the 2011 Junior Nationals, has wins in Omaha, Chicago, Ft. Lauderdale and Houston this year.

Her toughest test should come from another rookie in Kamla Macko, who matched up well with Lewis the last time the two stood on the same stage. Macko, who turned pro at the USA Championships in July, has already put together a rookie season to remember, placing in the top five in all three of her professional contests to date – including back-to-back runner-up finishes in her last two. One of those second places came to Lewis at the Ft. Lauderdale Cup in October.

In Bikini, India Paulino returns to defend the title she won a year ago. Since turning pro at the 2011 Junior Nationals, Paulino has four wins and eight top-three finishes. A win here would be her third of the 2012 season.

But Paulino isn’t the only competitor in the lineup looking for her third win of the year. Florida has already been kind to Yeshaira Robles this fall, where the second-year pro notched both of her IFBB wins in a two month span at the Valenti Cup and the Ft. Lauderdale Cup. A win here – and a win over Paulino – would go a long way in elevating Robles to elite status.
