FOUR-TIME WORLD CHAMPION TAGIR FAKHRUTDINOV PASSED AWAY

by Andrew Michalak

A sad news was published on the Russian www.ironworld.ru website: former world and European bodybuilding champion Tagir Fakhrutdinov, 49, passed away after a long and complex lung cancer treatment.

Tagir represented Russia and Azerbaijan. He won his first European title in 1994 and his first world title in 1999. In 2001 won both: European and World Championships. He took his third but not last world title in 2004, then won the World Masters Championships in 2006. His last contest was 2007 European Championships. He began in 65 kg category and reached the 80 kg division in 2007. He was not a bodybuilding giant but showed perfect body proportions and overall muscle development harmony. When in shape, incredible muscle separation and details. Won so many biggest IFBB international championships but lost his last long battle with cancer. He left behind his wife Rosa, son Marat and daughter Sabina. Our condolences to his family, and all those who loved him.

He will remain in our memory as a great bodybuilding champion and friendly, kind and open person.

Rest in peace!
