Magazine IFBB Universe - THE new issue online!

Recommended Posts

ISSUE # 9 is now online as well, in a bit modified format though, read the newest issue HERE. (take "start")

NEW “IFBB UNIVERSE” ONLINE: NEW FORMAT, NEW POSSIBILITIES !!!

With great pleasure, we can inform all of you that a new format of the IFBB Universe magazine is available online now. And not only online: this new edition can be viewed on any smartphone or tablet. This technical progress caused some delay b ut we think it was worthy to wait a bit longer.

Moreover, new format is more viewers “friendly” compared to the previous “ready for printing” format. Now you can click the “Start” point and begin your journey through the magazine “Contents”. You can select an article you wish to read and… surprise: there are no pages! You can run through the contest report category by category and you can view the photos as big as your computer or mobile device screen is! And we know that there are no words to describe perfectly the look of competitor and his muscles details. Now you can see the muscle details!

Inside each category you can select picture by picture, which are assembled in three groups: the winners, the battle and the top 10 (sometimes top 6) individually!

What more we can expect from the bodybuilding portal? If you have any wish and/or proposition, let us know, please!

The battle” pictures show the key comparisons in each category: this three (or more) comparisons ordered by the Chief Judge, which decide on the final results.

And all pictures have their captions, so you will exactly and easily know “who is who”. Moreover, there is a short analysis of the battle in each category, with presentation of the finalists and their up-to-date achievements. After each category we provide a detailed score sheet with the results of this category, so you will know how the battle evolved, round by round.

We hope that this new format will enable you to “watch” the championships reports much more comfortably and with greater interest.

In this issue we provide reports covering:

- 2012 World Men’s Championships in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

- 2012 World Classic Bodybuilding Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria

- 2012 IFBB World Cup in Sofia, Bulgaria

- 2012 World Juniors Championships in Budapest, Hungary (masters will be

published in the next issue).

- 2012 Amateur Mr. Olympia in Kuwait City

- 2012 Amateur Bikini Olympia in Prague, Czech Republic

- 2012 Eastern European and Russian Championships in Kazan, Russia

Moreover, something special for trainers and competitive athletes: Lee Labrada on contest peaking on the reduced carb diet ! Famous pro champion reveals the secrets of pre-contest preparations! Better body condition at the nearest contest guaranteed!

The next topics: incline dumbbell press with no secrets by Prof. Mauricio de Arruda.

But the most intriguing and unique material is the President Santonja interview – “Critical Positive Time”. Dr. Santonja tells about the past, the present and the future of the IFBB! Can’t be missed!

Wishing you an interesting lecture, I remain,

Andrew Michalak, M. Sc.

THE NEW IFBB UNIVERSE #9 GOES MOBILE

illnew07-1.jpg

By Rossella Pruneti, IFBB Press Commission

We have kept you waiting so long for the IFBB UNIVERSE issue #9 just because we are attempting a giant leap into the future: now you can easily read your IFBB magazine on any smartphone or tablet. It has been developed as an application for iOS and Android.

Why did we migrate to an application?

To date, most of the population - at any age - exists in a “four screen world” with their attention divided among mobile phones, tablets, TVs, and computers. Data (presented by Jeff Hilton at the 2013 Marc IFT Wellness conference in Chicago) indicates that 77% of the times people watch TV, they do so with another screen in the room. I don’t have data from IFBB events, but I myself can witness – and all of you can confirm I am right – that almost that same percentage of a bodybuilding and fitness audience watches the show taking pics with a mobile camera or tablets, tweeting, commenting and sharing on Facebook thanks to smartphone or wireless laptops.

This is changing the way we consume information.

In addition, we want more and more qualitative information. We want to see many pics – way more the pic a printed magazine can have. We want to get rid of limitations of printed or pdf magazines. This is why IFBB UNIVERSE isn’t even a pdf any more. We noticed that pdf files don’t offer a good readability on screens – much less on mobile screens.

We – as a Press Commission – must bridge these four screens. We need to stay ahead or at least catch up. To somebody, it looks like we are pioneering. Maybe. However, it is worth while. Browse the Web version and/or install the app. Enjoy and let us know your opinion. We do know that getting started with the new IFBB UNIVERSE app isn’t easy. Please keep in mind that Android and iOS are very different operating systems with different security protocols and hardware; as a result, there are some things that we cannot easily make compatible. Contents will be the same but layouts may be slightly different from the Android app to the iOS app.

Buckle up – this is only the first step. We aim at improving your IFBB mobile experience more and more!

The new IFBB UNIVERSE is an interactive magazine you can read:

On Apple devices

On Android devices

On the Net, at the official IFBB web site, as an experimental html5 digital magazine: http://www.ifbb.com/ifbb_universe/ifbb-universe-9/0Cover.html

Where you can download it

Right now from Google Play (Android version): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ifbbuniverse

Very soon from iTunes Store (iOS version) – publication is pending and our apps will be available in a few days.
